JOB OPPORTUNITY FOR VERSANT
SALES REPRESENTATIVE (NORTHEAST U.S.)
Versant is seeking a Sales Representative in the Boston/ Northeastern
U.S. area.
This position reports to the Sales Director, and is responsible for
selling the complete Versant product line within the assigned territory.
In addition, this person will:
- Work with little or no direct supervision
- Provide guidance and training to more junior level sales
representatives
- Manage assigned accounts and/or lead account teams
- Take responsibility for attaining and exceeding sales and account
objectives
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Practice and master all of the principal duties and
responsibilities of the Sales Representative position
- Effectively penetrate all accounts within the assigned territory,
including competitive installations that are within designated markets
- Call within all functional departments of current and prospective
customers and when appropriate orchestrate sales management visits to
customers
- Consistently demonstrate superior product, company and price book knowledge
- Organize time for optimum efficiency in meeting personal and business goals
- Utilize superior presentation skills, particularly to executive level personnel
- Work with support management and sales executives to negotiate contract terms
- Show initiative and motivation in one's own personal development
- Acts as mentor to lower level Sales Representatives
- Clearly articulate Versant corporate goals and objectives to colleagues and customers
- Consistently develop strategic selling plans and major accounts
- Demonstrate ability to manage complex customer accounts that might require development and or prototype product proposals
- Often use personal influence to close a sale
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
The Sales Representative should have:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- More than five years of relevant experience in the sales of hardware or software systems to larger corporations in technical or data processing markets, with a preference for workstations
- Must have at least five years successful sales quota performance
- Strong oral and written communication skills, positive attitude, understanding of sales process, professional appearance, product knowledge, well organized, dependable, negotiating skills, excellent listening skills, project management, planning and analysis
- Ability to manage/mentor Junior Sales Representatives
- Ability to be comfortable with making presentations to high-level customers
